Either from Proto-Indo-European *bhrenk, in Welsh he-brwng (to bring, to lead), Tocharian B prāṅk (to take away), Old English bringan (to bring) (for sense development compare English burden < PIE *bʰer-to carry), or a derivative of brej. See brej.
