Romanian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Probably from bot or Latin botum + suffix -ză, possibly influenced by bucă, or through a confusion of Latin basium and bucca [1] (compare bosumflat). Other theories suggest a substratum origin; it is certainly related to Albanian buzë. Compare also Aromanian budzã.
