From archaic and dialectal bënj (to make appear; do, make), from Proto-Albanian *banja, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰh₂-n-yé-ti, from *bʰeh₂- (shine) (compare Greek φαίνομαι (faínomai, to seem, appear).[1]
