From Ottoman Turkish دكشك (deyişik, diyişik, changed, substituted),[1] from Ottoman Turkish دكشمك (deŋişmek, diyişmek, to change, to become different, to exchange, to barter), from Proto-Turkic *tëgiš- or *tëŋiš- (to match, to come equal to, to substitute) from Proto-Turkic *teg- (to reach, to be as much),[2] morphologically değiş- +‎ -ik.
