Portuguese[edit]

Verb[edit]

desfira

  1. inflection of desferir:
    1. first/third-person singular present subjunctive
    2. third-person singular imperative

Romanian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From des- (un-) +‎ fir (thread) + -a (first-conjugation verbal suffix). Some Romanian etymological dictionaries list it as deriving from a local Vulgar Latin construction *disfīlāre[1](from dis- + fīlāre < fīlum), but this is unlikely, as normally it would become *diffīlāre in Latin.

Verb[edit]

a desfira (third-person singular present desfiră, past participle desfirat) 1st conj.

  1. (rare) to unravel, unwind (usually string or thread)
    Synonyms: deșira, desfășura
