From Proto-Albanian *dhH̥₁-teH₂, from Proto-Indo-European *dheH₁-, *dhH̥₁- 'to place put'. Cognate to Ancient Greek τίθημι (títhēmi, to place), Latin facio (I do, make), Lithuanian dėti (to put), Sanskrit दधाति (dádhāti), Old English dōn (to do).
