esība f

  1. being, existence (the fact of existing)
Mira, zaļās acis samiegusi, jau pētī pulksteni, it kā nupat tikai tā esību atklājusi — Mira, (her) green eyes sleepy, is already studying the clock, as if she had just discovered its existence
viņu ceļi turpmāk ies līdztekus un abu esībai būs viens mērķis un viena jēga — their paths will continue to go alongside each other, and their existence will have one single purpose and one single meaning
taisnība un netaisnība, gods un negodīgums, pienākums pret citiem un paša esības jēga... tas viss nodarbina rakstnieci — justice and injustice, honesty and dishonesty, duty toward others and the meaning of one's own existence... all of this interests the (female) author
