Danish[edit]

Etymology[edit]

formel (formula) +‎ enhed (unit)

Noun[edit]

formelenhed c (singular definite formelenheden, plural indefinite formelenheder)

  1. The quantity of a substance that is equivalent to the substance's chemical formula.

Usage notes[edit]

Note that formelenhed is defined more broadly than English formula unit, in that formelenhed does not refer exclusively to ionic compounds. One formelenhed of sucrose, for example, would be one molecule.
