Etymology[edit]
This form is only found in Western Oghuz languages, from Proto-Turkic *gekirdek (“throat, thrachea, cartilage”). Cognate with Azerbaijani qırtlaq, Kyrgyz кекиртек (kekirtek). Compare also Bashkir кигерләк (kigerläk; dialectal).
