Etymology[edit]

gyro- +‎ -lite, from Ancient Greek γύρος (gúros, ring, circle) and λίθος (líthos, stone), for its round crystalline nodules.

  1. (mineralogy) A hexagonal-pyramidal mineral containing aluminum, calcium, hydrogen, oxygen, silicon, and sodium.
