  1. (transitive, forestry) to have cut
    Hakkautin 10 hehtaaria metsää rahoittaakseni uuden traktorin.
    I had 10 hectars of forest cut in order to finance a new tractor.
  2. (transitive) to have chopped up
    Transsylvanian kuningas hakkautti turkkilaisen valtuuskunnan päät irti, koska he eivät halunneet ottaa turbaaneja päästään kuninkaan illallisella.
    The king of Transsylvania had the heads of a Turkish delegation chopped off, because they did not want to take their turbans off at king's dinner.
