  1. (US) Alternative spelling of half-time
    • 1966, United States Congressional Serial Set, page 903:
      If the employment is halftime, $12.50 plus 12 of the next $75 is disregarded. If the employment is irregular or occasional, the allowance is adjusted to be consistent with the situation.
  2. (American football) The halftime show, the primary light entertainment of a game, after the second quarter, when players can physically recover, coaches can give players a pep talk, bets can be doubled, etc.
