Finnish[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Pronunciation[edit]
Adjective[edit]
halukas (comparative halukkaampi, superlative halukkain)
- inclined, eager, willing
- Oletko halukas lähtemään huomenna Turkuun?
- Are you willing to travel to Turku tomorrow?
Usage notes[edit]
That to which one is willing is in illative case. The verb form of lähteä is active third infinitive, which is formed with -ma, -mä suffix from the stem of the verb. In the example above:
- "to leave" = lähteä (“to leave, go”) > lähte- + -mä + -än (illative ending)
Halukas can be used also attributively but is postponed if accompanied by a pronoun (joku halukas tulee).
