(organic chemistry) An organic compound (a dimer of allyl phenol) found in Magnolia grandifloris, used in traditional Japanese medicine as an as an anxiolytic, anti-thrombotic, anti-depressant, anti-emetic, and anti-bacterial. Used in Western medicine as a potent anti-tumorigenic and neurotrophic compound.
