From hypocritic + -al, from ὑποκριτικός (hupokritikos), from ὑποκριτής (hupokritēs, actor, hypocrite), from ὑποκρίνομαι (hupokrinomai, I play a part on stage), from ὑπό (hupo, below) + κρίνω (krinō, I choose).
