From hypocritic + -al, from ὑποκριτικός (hupokritikós), from ὑποκριτής (hupokritḗs, actor, hypocrite), from ὑποκρίνομαι (hupokrínomai, I play a part on stage), from ὑπό (hupó, below) + κρίνω (krínō, I choose).
