inorganic compound (plural inorganic compounds)

  1. (inorganic chemistry) Any compound not containing carbon atoms.
  2. (inorganic chemistry) Any compound containing carbon atoms ionically bound to other atoms.

Usage notes[edit]

By convention they also include the carbides, carbonates, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and the salts of simple carboxylic acids; carbon disulphide is debatable.
