Usage notes[edit]

In Finnish the word jäätelö does not necessarily indicate that the raw material is cream, but it may also be milk or vegetable fat as long as the texture and taste resemble that of the original cream-based product. Sometimes the producers add a modifier to indicate the main raw material, e.g. kermajäätelö, maitojäätelö, kasvirasvajäätelö.
