  1. A field.
  2. (sports) A limited area where a game is played, a playing field. English translation depends on the game. Tennis and similar games are played on a court, golf on a course, ice-hockey in a rink, soccer in a pitch and baseball, American football etc. on a field. Kenttä is often combined with a modifier that defines the kind of playing field.
    jalkapallokenttä = soccer pitch
