Dutch[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From a merger of Middle Dutch coren (to test, to assess) (still found in bekoren) and cueren (to determine). The former derives from Old Dutch koron, from Proto-Germanic *kuzōną, the latter from cuere (Modern Dutch keur).
