From Proto-Germanic *klukjaną, from *klu- (to ball up, conglomerate, amass), from Proto-Indo-European *glew- (to ball up; lump, mass).

Noun[edit]

  1. crotch; the area where something branches; in particular a branch from a tree trunk
  2. the switchhook on which a telephone handset rests while not in use (at least on older telephones)
