For the verb: krav +‎ -a. From Old Swedish kræfia (Old Norse krefja), from Proto-Germanic *krafjaną or Proto-Germanic *krabjaną. Causative derivation from krav. Cognate with Danish kræve, Norwegian kreve, Old English crafian and Modern English crave.
