From Proto-Albanian *ambi, from Proto-Indo-European *h2mbi '(a)round'. Cognate to Latin ambi, am ((a)round) and Sanskrit अभि (abhí, (a)round). From Albanian mbə, which is attested in the older Gheg literature (Buz.) and still in Tosk dialects as mbë
