  1. (medicine) The condition of excessive shouting or raising the voice.
    • 1973, Oliver Sacks, Awakenings:
      His initial symptom was megaphonia — a tendency to bellow and raise his voice — which was followed by the development of grunting, and a tendency to clench and grind the teeth.
