Noun[edit]

monthly meeting (plural monthly meetings)

  1. Used other than figuratively or idiomatically: see monthly,‎ meeting.
  2. (Quakerism) The basic unit of administration in the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), which typically meets for services weekly, and holds a business meeting once a month.
  3. (Quakerism) A religious service held by a monthly meeting.

Usage notes[edit]

  • A Quakers' monthly meeting does not necessarily meet monthly. For this reason, some prefer the name area meeting.
