- Precedes the comparative form of an adjective or an adverb.
- àrd - high
- na b' àirde - higher
- fuar - cold
- na b' fhuaire - colder

Usage notes [edit]
- Only used in the past tense and the conditional mood. In the present and future tenses, nas is used.
- Only used before vowels and words beginning with fh followed by a vowel, otherwise na bu is used.
