Polish[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Note that there is no Polish word chlujny. Niechlujny is related to the Russian холя meaning 'care, attention' and холуй meaning an 'obsequious over-attentive servant', and also to the Polish schludny meaning 'neat, tidy'. schludny derives from chludzić, 'to clean thoroughly, to have high standards of cleanliness'. This word derives from the Ancient Greek κλύζω 'to wash' (compare κλύδων 'a wave' and कlळोल)
