From Serbo-Croatian Vlah (Romanian) (dialectal, "Italian", "Latin"), Vlasi pl, from Proto-Slavic *volxъ, ultimately from Proto-Germanic *walhaz, from Latin Volcae (name of a Celtic tribe). See also the doublet oláh.
