From phyto- +‎ -cide.

phytocide (plural phytocides)

  1. (uncommon) An agent that kills plants, such as weedkiller.

Usage notes[edit]

Do not confuse a phytocide (an herbicide to kill plants) with a phytoncide, a substance made by the plant to discourage insects, animals, or bacteria from eating it.
