  1. (intransitive, chiefly impersonal) to hold water; both literally (to not leak) and figuratively (to withstand scrutiny, to be valid)

Conjugation[edit]

See pitää; vettä is in the partitive case, but is inflected in the genitive in action nouns: see Appendix:Finnish verb phrases. Normally used only in the third-person singular.
