From Ancient Greek πολυδάκτυλος (poludáktulos) +‎ -y, from πολυ- (polu-, many) +‎ δάκτυλος (dáktulos, fingers, toes), equivalent to poly- +‎ dactyly or polydactyl +‎ -y.
