From Ancient Greek πολυδάκτυλος (poludáktulos) +‎ -y, from πολυ- (polu-, “many”) +‎ δάκτυλος (dáktulos, “fingers, toes”), equivalent to poly- +‎ dactyly or polydactyl +‎ -y.
