private enterprise number (plural private enterprise numbers)

  1. A unique number as assigned by IANA to identify unique objects that are defined by an enterprise, developed to give objects a common naming system via the more common language of numbers.
    Applied primarily to LDAP and X.500 directories in locally-defined schema and in the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and related standards.
