Azerbaijani[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From Common Turkic *kāš (“eyebrow; edge”), possibly from Proto-Turkic *k(i)āĺ (“eyebrow; edge”). Cognate with Turkish kaş, etc. The sense 'gemstone' might have developed from in the following way: 'eyebrow' → 'curved object' → 'ring frame' → 'gemstone',[1] although it has sometimes also been seen as unrelated to the sense 'eyebrow'.[2][3]
