  1. An acronym in which the first letter of the first word represented by the acronym is the acronym itself.
    GNU is a recursive acronym for "GNU's not UNIX"
    "HURD" is a co-recursive acronym, standing for "HIRD of Unix-Replacing Daemons", where "HIRD" stands for "HURD of Interfaces Representing Depth".
