From Proto-Albanian *rinja, from Proto-Indo-European *h₃rinéHti (“move”), present of *h₃er- (“to move, stir, rise, spring”). Related to re (“cloud(s)”), Proto-Slavic *rinǫti (“push, shove”), Aeolic Greek ὀρῑ́νω (orī́nō, “to move”).[1]
