Baltic-Finnic cognates of the same meaning are deemed certain and include eg. Karelian seä, Votic sää, Veps . Probably inherited from Proto-Finno-Ugric *säŋi (air), also reflected in Hungarian ég (sky) and Komi сынӧд (synöd, warm air).
