Sicilian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Latin occāsiō with apheresis. The presence of the initial s- could be the result of hypercorrection, otherwise it could derive from ex- (from) + *cāsiō (occasion, opportunity).

Pronunciation[edit]

  • IPA(key): /s(ʃ)kaˈʃuni/
  • Hyphenation: sca‧ciù‧ni

Noun[edit]
