[edit] German

[edit] Pronunciation

[edit] Verb

schreien (strong, third-person singular simple present schreit, past tense schrie, auxiliary haben, past participle geschrien)

  1. (transitive or intransitive) to shout; to yell; to cry; to scream; to howl

[edit] Conjugation

The past participle is pronounced two different ways. One corresponds to the spelling geschrien, the other to an obsolete spelling with an extra e: geschrieen. Many speakers still pronounce the past participle as if it has the extra e, but as of the 1996 German Spelling Reform, the only correct spelling now is geschrien.
