Inherited from Ottoman Turkish سلام علیکم,[1] from Classical Persian سلام علیکم (salāmun ʿalaykum), from Arabic سَلَامٌ عَلَيْكُمْ (salāmun ʕalaykum, peace be upon you).[2]
