  • Rhymes: -ʏlən

Noun[edit]

spullen

  1. plural of spul

Luxembourgish[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Middle High German spüelen, from Proto-West Germanic *spōlijan. The original forms were spillen, gespullt with Rückumlaut (compare Ripuarian spöle, jespolt). The u-vowel was then generalized in all forms to avoid the homophony with unrelated spillen (to play).
