  1. which can or should be stood (in, at, on); indefinite present passive participle of stāvēt 
    kājās stāvams ceļs — a path on which one should stand, a path to be stood on
    altāra priekšā pie trelīņiem, kur stāvams dievgaldniekiem — in front of the altar, at the little rail where the communicants are supposed to stand
    gribu mierīgu darbu, vislabāk jau sēžamu, ne kājās stāvamu, bet nu 8 gadu laikā jau esmu pieradusi arī pie tā — I want a calm job, preferably one where (one) can sit, not (one where) (one) must stand on (one's) legs, but now in 8 years I have become used to that, too
