stock loan (plural stock loans)

  1. (finance) A loan structure using free-trading stock or in some cases restricted stock as collateral.
  2. (finance, used in securities brokerages and investment banking) The loan of securities by one broker to another, such as to cover a customer short sale. More commonly known as securities lending.
