Etymology[edit]

Related to sănătate. Possibly from Vulgar Latin (herba) sanatōria, from Late Latin sanatōrius, from Latin sanō. This form came to be influenced by the verb suna (cf. sunător) in Romanian, altered through popular etymology deriving it from that verb.

  1. (botany) perforate St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum)
  2. (botany) stinking hawksbeard (Crepis foetida)

  4. (botany) rose of Sharon (usually Hypericum calycinum)
