Classical Nahuatl[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From tenextli (lime) +‎ tetl (stone). Interestingly, the word contains this second element twice; tenextli itself is composed of tetl + nextli (ashes).

Pronunciation[edit]

Noun[edit]

tenextetl (inanimate)

  1. rock from which lime is extracted; limestone
