  1. (grammar) translative. In Finnish translative refers to transforming or becoming something else or to having a surprising quality. Its ending is -ksi.
    • Kalle nousi vahvaksi puheenjohtajaehdokkaaksi. = Kalle emerged as a strong candidate for the chairman's post.
    • Minä haluan presidentiksi. = I want to become the president.
    • Vasta-alkajaksi hän on hyvä = For a beginner he's good.
