Etymology[edit]

Based on unë, from Proto-Albanian *wandā. Cognate to Old Armenian գինդ (gind, ring), Gothic 𐌱𐌹𐍅𐌹𐌽𐌳𐌰𐌽 (biwindan, to unwreathe).[1] The variant ognazë is found in the Çam dialect.
