Etymology 1[edit]

Possibly a doublet of quấn, from Proto-Mon-Khmer *wən(ʔ) (coiled; to wind, bend). Cognate with Khmer វៀន (viən, to curl up) and Mon ဝေန် (wèn, to be crooked, deformed).
