1. (medicine) Inflammation of the ventricles in the brain.

     Ventriculitis in the newborn may be associated with a depressed anterior fontanelle if the infant is dehydrated and it may be full and/or boggy rather than tense and may not become bulging until the very late stages of the disease.

     Complications of intraventricular administration include shunt infections with S. epidermidis, shunt occlusions, ventriculitides, encephalopathies, and seizures.
