Etymology[edit]

Directly from Latin Volcāniānus or from Latin Volcānius + -an within English, from Volcānus + -iānus (-ian) or -ius (-y: forming adjectives). Equivalent to Volcan +‎ -ian. Doublet of Vulcanian.
