- 1776, Richard Chandler, chapter LXXII, in Travels in Greece, page 280:
- The ſtream deſcended from the north and mount Pindus into the plain of Acarnania, and, dividing that country from Ætolia, entered the ſea by the city Œniadæ, creating continually new land.
