Ancient Greek
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Hellenic *tʰə́pťō, perhaps from a Proto-Indo-European *dʰm̥bʰyéti, from *dʰembʰ-, with cognates including Old Armenian դամբան (damban, “tomb”) and possibly Avestan 𐬛𐬀𐬑𐬨𐬀 (daxma), Middle Persian [script needed] (dhmk'), or from Proto-Indo-European *dʰₔgʷʰtós. Could also be a loanword.
The present tense system includes a T progressive aspect marker.
